Good week for burlesque. The Standard reports that Burlesque is “moving out of the underground and into the mainstream”. About, what, five years after everybody else realised it?
Bad week for pistachios. There’s some sort of diplomatic incident (last para here) brewing over the nuts at Sadler’s Wells.
Good week for King Lear. The new Jacobi production is absolutely, just incredibly amazing apparently. “Simple, stark and very good” according to the FT. “The King of Lears” according to the Henry Hitchings in the Standard. Even Margaret Thatcher likes it.
Bad week for those petitioning against arts cuts. It seems nobody is really that bothered.
